Thursday, October 10th, 2002, Marbletown Town Hall
Present: Carl Pezzino, Tom Jackson, Mary Ranges, Brooke Pickering, Steve Rice,
Jim Economos, Amy Moses, Fabia Wargin, Karen Williams, Dan Gagnon,
James Reynolds, Bruce Davenport, Lou Cardinale. Guests: Will Husta
(Planning & Zoning) and Helen Budrock (Catskill Center).
The meeting was called to order by Carl Pezzino at 7:11pm
I. Future of Marbletown Workshop - Planning A. Introduction of CDC and
subcommittee accomplishments. The following people will present a 3 5
minute review of high points since last workshop.
Economic: Dan G.
Community Center: Brooke or Mary R.
Natural Resources: Fabia W.
Trails: Steve R.
Emergency Services: Lou C.
Infrastructure: (Carl will call Marshall)
Arts & Culture: (Carl will call Bruce L.)
B. Focus Group changes:
- There will be no emergency services focus group.
- #6 (Environment & Natl Resources) will be combined with #7 (Farm
Preservation) to make one group. Move trails to Recreation group.
- #11 (Community Awareness) will not be a focus group - but all groups will be asked to address this issue.
C. Facilitators:
1. Facilitators should be at UCCC by 8:30am on Nov.2nd.
2. Helen will prepare a package for each facilitator. Carl will send Helen a list of facilitators.
3. Facilitators will be as follows:
#1 Arts & Culture (Carl will call Bruce L.)
#2 Community Beautification Amy M.
#3 Community Center Brooke, then Mary
#4 Planning and Zoning Peter Reynolds
#5 Economic Development Karen W.
#6 Environment/Farm Fabia W. then Bruce D.
#7 Infrastructure (Carl will call Marshall)
#8 Recreation Steve R.
D. CDC attendance: Carl asked that everyone from the CDC attend, even if not facilitating. Helen will make CDC nametags for all.
E. Outreach
Immediate action items: Karen, Tom, Carl and Amy are working on
outreach. Tim S. is working on the flyer. Karen will send Tim the
b&w to remind him. Flyers should be out by the 19th. Carl will contact Pat Rowe at the Freeman, Carl will call the Blue Stone Press.
Other ideas: schools, seniors (contact Marge C.), Marbletown.net, churches.

II. Subcommittee Reports
A. Natural Resources: Bruce D. reported they are putting together a
survey to property owners with ag. exemptions which will be sent with
ag. assessment mailing from the Town. Purpose is to create a local
buying brochure. The subcommittee asked that the CDC recommend that the
Town pay for the brochure (print job would be around 10,000 copies).
1. Tom Jackson suggested they go ahead with the mailing, and meanwhile
they should come up with a proposal with actual dollar figures for the
Town Board.
2. Bruce D. explained that their potential non-profit organization
would be a marketing and public info. group Rondout Valley Growers -
about farms and their products/services this would be separated out
from land preservation issues, to avoid any perceptions of conflict of
interest.
B. Tom J. reported that the Visitor Center Grant application was turned down. They are looking at alternate sources of funding.
C. Community Center: Mary R. reported as follows:
- Hoe Down coming up on Nov. 2nd
- Non-profit status is in the works.
- Mothers group is up and running every Thursday a.m.
- A piano has been donated.
- The Teen Center needs volunteer help (not teen parents) for Friday nights.
- A blood drive is in the works.
- The Comm Center needs a sign for publicizing events.
D. Trails: Steve R. responded that ATV use is down on the trails.
