 | The Community Development Committee (CDC) was established in 1999 by the Marbletown Town Board for the purpose of fostering the quality of life in Marbletown. The CDC functions as a citizens advisory committee to the Town Board, and is made up of volunteer community members who represent all segments of Marbletown including: agriculture, the arts, business, family life, as well as religious and educational organizations.
In addition to sponsoring two town wide visioning workshops (in 2000 and 2002), the CDC has provided leadership for a number of important projects in our town. Among them are: the new Marbletown Community Center and Teen Center, planning for the Department of Transportations scheduled upgrade of Route 209 in Stone Ridge, the formation of the Marbletown Arts Association, open space initiatives, the creation of the Rondout Valley Growers Association, plans for Rail Trail improvements, and the implementation of this website. Current initiatives include: acquifer protection, a new Visitors Center, Town Park improvements and traffic and safety enhancements.
