Town Negotiates New Agreement with Time-Warner Cable
In recognition of the urgent need to provide more MT residents with access to high-speed internet services the Town Board, with the pro-bono assistance of Attorney, Marti Greene, has a negotiated an unprecedented new agreement with TWC.
Under Public Service Commission rules, TWC is only required to provide service to roads where there are 20+ homes , per mile (as measured from the closest active service connection). The new agreement calls for TWC to wire an additional 15 miles, of presently unserved roads, where the density is below 20 homes, per mile. Additionally, TWC has agreed to triple revenues payable to the Town and has also agreed to provide free basic service to all schools, libraries, fire houses, municipal buildings and other emergency service facilities and steep discounts for internet service.
This new agreement is the best ever offered to a community in the Hudson Valley, however, the Town Board recognizes that high-speed internet access represents critical economic infrastructure and we will continue to leave no stone unturned in the quest for town-wide, universal coverage.

Town Board Passes Unanimous Resolution in Support of the Community Preservation Act
On Tuesday, June 6th, the Marbletown Town Board passed a unanimous resolution to urge our representatives, in Albany, to support the Community Preservation Act.
The Community Preservation Act calls for allowing towns and voters, through New York State, to decide on a case-by-case basis, whether they would like to set up a community preservation fund derived from an up to 2% real estate transfer tax, on the buyer, and only on the amount of the sale that is above and beyond the median sale price of a residential property in Ulster County.
Funds could be used for the preservation of, and assistance to, local family farms, historical sites, parks and trails, and other valuable community assets. The bill has the support of Governor Pataki, was passed by the NYS Assembly and now resides in the NYS Senate.
We urge all those who would support this effort to contact Senator Bonacic Room 815 Legislative Office Building, Albany NY 12247 and urge him to support the Community Preservation Act (S.3153)
