Development Plan: 1969 Master Plan
 | DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The
Development Plan is composed of a map and accompanying textual
des-cription and written proposals setting forth the developmental
policy for the Town of Marbletown. It is the end result of the survey
and analysis of existing physical, social and economic conditions and
diagnosis of trends and future needs. It is designed to effectuate the
goals and object-ives established by local residents (through public
meetings and questionnaires) the Planning Board, elected officials and
consultants. The develop-ment plan proposes various land use
districts, transportation facilities and community facilities which
will serve the anticipated population in the future.
The
Development Plan for the Town of Marbletown is designed to meet the
needs of the Town with a forecasted population of 5,000-6,300 by 1985
(the range of the planning period); however, with the realization that
this popu-lation will continue to increase to 7,600-9,300 by the turn
of the century.
The Development Plan should not be considered as a fixed and rigid
docu-ment establishing unalterable guidelines for Marbletown until
1985. The plan should rather be regarded as a tool which may need
adjusting periodically. If and when Town officials and the citizenry
decide that the objectives which shape the proposals of this plan have
changed or require a different emphasis, then a review should be made.
In the next section of this report the Development Plan is presented in
com-ponent parts: land use, transportation, community facilities, and
public utilities.
