MEMBERS WANTED - JOIN OUR BOARD OF ETHICS!

The Town of Marbletown created a Board of Ethics to help ensure that the provisions of the new Ethics Code passed on April 20, 2021, Local Law #3, are adhered to by all department heads, committee volunteers, and elected officials. The law (24-7A) requires the Board to consist of 5 members “a majority of whom shall not be officers or employees of Marbletown and at least one of whom shall be an elected or appointed officer or employee of the Town. The members of such board shall reside in the Town and shall not hold an office in any political organization, no more than a majority minus one shall be registered in the same political party.” The law further requires a minimum of two meetings a year. In addition to responding to questions regarding possible ethics violations from the public, the Board shall review Financial Disclosure Statements by those required to submit them and explore whether an action could be a potential ethics violation that require them to recuse themselves certain debates or votes. The term of office is 5 years, staggered so that members of the new Board serve different terms. If you are interested in applying, please complete the application and submit it to Heather Moody, Town Clerk at clerk@marbletown.net APPLY HERE: https://www.marbletown.net/sites/g/files/vyhlif4666/f/uploads/ethics_board_application_fillable.pdf
