DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for the performance of routine ground maintenance activities. Work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and involves a variety of tasks related to the maintenance of grounds and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level employee.
Supervision may be exercised over the work of others lower-level employees. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: The typical work activities listed below, while providing representative examples of the variety of work assignments in the title do not describe any individual position'. Incumbents in this title may perform some or all of the following, as well as other related activities not described.
Mows, rakes and cuts grass; clears drainage on trail
Operates grounds keeping machinery and equipment; minor plumbing & electrical
Performs minor maintenance to grounds keeping machinery and equipment; Maintains athletic fields; keeps grounds free of litter
Painting
Plants and cares for trees, shrubs, and plants
Removes snow and ice from walks, pathways, and steps. May secure buildings and property.
May perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
Operate motor vehicle.
Returns cans and bottles to redemption center
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of grounds maintenance activities and equipment; ability to follow simple oral and written directions; willingness to perform manual work; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time paid experience, or its' part-time equivalent, in park or grounds maintenance activities.
