In 2008 Marbletown was awarded a grant from New York State Agriculture & Markets to create a Farmland Protection Plan.  The purpose of the project is to analyze the foundations of the Town’s agricultural economy and to create a protection plan that will address issues facing farmers and citizens, and set the stage for agricultural growth in the future.

Income Limits for Senior Exemptions and special construction/renovation assessment relief: The Town Board has raised income limits for Senior Exemptions. For more information on how the changes may affect your particular exemption level, please contact Kathy or Barbara, in the Assessor's office at 687-9523 ext 108

The Town of Marbletown passed a special tax exemption for the construction or renovation of living quarters for senior parents and grandparents. The bill calls for an exemption for the increase in assessed value if a home/property owner builds or renovates living quarters for a senior parent or grandparent, 62 year of age or older. It must be the senior's primary place of residence and must be re-certified annually to qualify for the exemption. It represents an excellent mechanism for keeping families together and for providing additional affordable housing options for our seniors.

New York State has just passed an innovative credit that will give NYS landowners whose land is restricted by a permanent conservation easement an annual rebate of 25% of the property taxes paid on that land, up to $5000. per year. Landowners will be able to claim this rebate when they file a 2006 NYS income tax return and annually thereafter.
