Income Limits for Senior Exemptions and special contruction/renovation assessment relief

The Town Board has raised income limits for Senior Exemptions. For more information on how the changes may affect your particular exemption level, please contact Kathy or Barbara, in the Assessor's office at 687-9523 ext 108

The Town of Marbletown passed a special tax exemption for the construction or renovation of living quarters for senior parents and grandparents. The bill calls for an exemption for the increase in assessed value if a home/property owner builds or renovates living quarters for a senior parent or grandparent, 62 year of age or older. It must be the senior's primary place of residence and must be re-certified annually to qualify for the exemption. It represents and excellent mechanism for keeping families together and for providing additional affordable housing options for our seniors.
