The Town of Marbletown passed a special tax exemption for the construction or renovation of living quarters for senior parents and grandparents. The bill calls for an exemption for the increase in assessed value if a home/property owner builds or renovates living quarters for a senior parent or grandparent, 62 year of age or older. It must be the senior's primary place of residence and must be re-certified annually to qualify for the exemption. It represents an excellent mechanism for keeping families together and for providing additional affordable housing options for our seniors.
