The Town of Marbletown has qualified for a no-match $5,000 grant through NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities program.  This “Action Grant” is the result of our efforts promoting the installation of heat pumps and heat pump water heaters in the community, and can be used for a number of possible projects that will reduce Marbletown’s dependency on fossil fuels.

There are a number of other, similar action grants the Town hopes to earn by reporting the installation of more heat pumps, heat pump or hybrid water heaters, purchases of electric vehicles, and sign ups for community solar.

To qualify we need the help of Marbletown residents and businesses, by taking part in the energy transition off fossil fuels.  Almost everyone has something they can do that will both save them money and reduce their use of fossil fuels.

The following changes will help us qualify for more action grants:

Please notify the Marbletown Environmental Commission ([email protected]) about any of the above along with the following information: 1) the address; 2) the contractor/dealer/vendor; 3) the date it happened.

As an added incentive, everyone who helps us qualify can vote on how we will spend the money.  Here are the options we’re considering:

  1. As part of the renovations at the Marbletown Community Center.  The MCC needs improved insulation, air sealing, more heat pumps, and we need to replace the propane stove.  These grants can help towards any of that.
  2. Installing Electric Vehicle Chargers at Town Park on Tongore Road.
  3. We’ll work with the Marbletown highway department and buy them some electrified equipment.  We recently bought them some electric yard maintenance equipment (a lawnmower, leaf blower, etc.) but there is much more that they could use.

Please include your vote along with the information on one of the 3 actions listed above.
